April OwlCrate Unboxing

Hello lovelies! How are you? Today’s blog post is all about my unboxing of this month’s OwlCrate. Owlcrate is a monthly Young Adult subscription box that features a signed exclusive edition of a newly released box and 3-6 boyish goodies. This month’s theme is The Dark Side Please leave me a comment down below letting me know what your favourite item was in this month’s box. Hope you have an awesome day.

When I first open this I see the spoiler card. I love the design of this card and the colour scheme of it. I am not going to be looking at the back of the card because it contains spoilers.

The first item in this box is a pair of socks designed by Out of Print. I love their socks. They are such good quality. These socks were inspired by Six of Crows. I love the design of these socks.

Next is a scarf designed by Bookmark’d Tattoos. This scarf was inspired by the Grishaverse, more specifically the Darkling. I love the colour. I feel like this colour is very Spring.

Another item in this box is a notebook illustrated by Stella Bookish Art. This was inspired by the Throne of Glass series. This notebook is beautiful. I know I will be using this a ton.

Next item is a phone holder. This was designed by Hey Atlas Creative. It was inspired by Vicious. I think this is such a cool item. I have never heard of a subscription box putting this item in one of their boxes. I think this is very useful.

Then in this box we have a sneak peek of Finale by Stephanie Garber.

Another item we have in this box is a pin banner designed and created by Michelle Gray. I think this is such a conveniate item to have. You can display all of your pins that you get from OwlCrate each month.

Speaking of pins, this month’s collectable enamel pin was designed by Hey Atlas Craetive. It was inspired by the book of the month. This pin is absolutely stunning! Can’t wait to display it.

The book of the month is Wicked Saints by Emily A. Duncan. This novel is about Naya, who has the ability to talk to Gods and take hold of their magic, as she is thrown into a centuries long war along with a Prince and a blood mage, the trio forms a dangerous plan to assassinate the King and finally end the war. This cover is an exclusive cover and is also signed by the author. We also get a letter from the author and an exclusive fabric book map.

Each month we get a panphlette with interviews with the author and a vendor, word searches, photo challenges and a sneak peek of next month’s book.

First in this box we have the t-shirt that comes in every Nerdy Post Combo. This shirt says “Believe me, I’m not ordinary” which is a quote from Merlin. I love everything Merlin. It is one of my favourite stories and tv shows. I love the design on this. The colours complement each other and the artwork is beautiful.

Next we have the spoiler card. It is based on Lord of the Rings. I love that the whole picture has hues of green. It is very pretty.

Then we have this beautiful two sided fat bookmark. I love Nerdy Post bookmarks because they feel buttery and soft to the touch. On one side of the bookmark we have a picture of Daenerys with a dragon and sunset in the background. The quote says “I am no ordinary woman. My dreams come true.” On the opposite side we have Fawkes from Harry Potter and a ribbon that has the quote “It matters not what someone is born, but what we grow up to be.”

Also in this month’s box we have this sticker. It says “you don’t need to like reality, only be strong enough to face it.” This is a quote from the Night Angle Trilogy by Brent Weaks. I love the typography and the water colour effect of it.

After that we have an exclusive lapel pin that features Ghost, the Direwolf from Game of Thrones. This is definitely going on my book bag.

Next, we have this absolutely gorgeous magnet. This is based on His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman. This has illustrations of Lyra, Pan and Lorek. I have not yet read the trilogy, but I really want to read it. When I was younger I did watch the movie when it first came out and I did really enjoy it. My favourite character was Lorek.

In this box we get another bookmark. This one is double sided and skinner then the first one. On one side it has a quote from the Name of the Wind. It says “ Words have power. Words can light fires in the minds of men. Words can wring tears from the hardest hearts.” I love that quote and the galaxy background it has. Very beautiful. On the other side we have a quote from the Princess Bride. The quote says “have fun storming the castle”. I love the princess bride it is so funny and magical.

As well has a mini print that says “ when people say impossible they usually mean improbable.” The quote is from Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo. I love the design of this. The light blue, green and orange really complement each other and the typography that they used is beautiful.

Next we have a poster. The quote says “beautiful and full of minsters… all the best stories are”. The poster is absolutely stunning. I love the lantern, the typography, the butterflies and flowers. Everything about it is stunning. I can not wait to hang this on my wall.

The final item is the postercard. Every month Nerdy post sends out a post card that you can colour in and send to someone. This is what this month’s looks like.

Next month’s theme is sci-fi. I can not wait.

First in this box is the spoiler card. I love the design on it. OwlCrate always hits it out of the park with the cards. This month’s theme is “Shadows and Secrets”.

Next we have the OwlCrate pin that comes in every month. It always as a little picture on it based on the spoiler card. This month it has two hands making a bird shadow.

We have coffee from Bones Coffee Company. This has flavours of dark chocolate and sea salt. Sounds very yummy.

This soap is from Three Sisters Apothecary. It has scents of berries. I also love all of the hues of purple it has on it.

Next are pencils from Jubilee Designs. These three pencils have Harry Potter sayings on them. The sayings are “I solemnly swear that I am up to no good”, “mischief managed” and “property of the half-blood prince”. I always wanted pencils from Jubilee Designs and I am so glad that I do now.

Another item that we get in this box is this beautiful pillowcase designed by Stella Bookish Art. I love the design and the quote on it. The quote is from Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo and I think it fits the theme perfectly.

The final item before the book is a chapter sampler for the highly anticipated Legendary by Stephanie Garber. Legendary is the sequel to Caraval. This book is coming out May 29, 2018.

As always Owlcrate gives us a pamphlet with word searches, interviews with the vendors and author of the book, as well as information on next month’s box.

This month’s book is Ace of Shades by Amanda Foody. This has been one of my most anticipated releases of the year and I am so excited to have it in my possession. The book is about Enne Salta who finds herself looking for her mother in a sinful city. There she meets a street lord and a con man. The quest has Enne going to casinos, run ins with the mafia and underground the city. This book sounds like a wild ride and I can’t wait to read it. It always has an exclusive cover and is signed by the author.

Next month’s theme is “Fight like a Girl” and we will be getting a bath bomb from Whipped Up Wonderful.

Thank you so much OwlCrate for curating yet another amazing box. You never let me down.

top 5

Top 5 Wednesday – April 25

Favourite Fandom Items

1. Camelot T-Shirt from Society 6 – This shirt brings together two of my favourite things; Disney and Merlin. I love how Camelot looks like the Disney castle and how the font of Camelot looks like the “Disney” lettering. https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/162511531/merlin-camelot-shirt-magic-castle-t

2. I Love Lucy Bubble Gum Print from Etsy – This piece of art is so unique. The bubble gum is such a nice pop of colour and the newspaper background makes Lucy stand out.

3. Star Wars Feminist T-Shirt from Etsy – Princess Leila was such a strong female character. The quote and the bad ass picture of Leila pays a beautiful tribute to Carrie Fisher and her legacy.

4. Once Upon a Time Wax Tarts from In the Wick of Time – I’ve always wanted to know what Storybrooke would smell like and now I can. I love in the Wick of Time candles. This is going to be my next purchase from her shop.

5. The Goonies Mug from Etsy – The Goonies is one of my favourite movies and the quote is from one of my favourite scenes in the movie. This mug would be convenient to show my enthusiasm for the movie. https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/528396112/goonies-mug-custom-mug-coffee-mug-tea
