The genre that I don’t typically read, but I have fallen in love with this year is thrillers/mysteries and the best book in that genre is The Neighbors by Hannah Mary McKinnon.

The shorest book that I had in 2018 is Binti at 96 pages. The longest book that I read in 2018 is Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow at 640 pages.

The book that shocked me the most is the Neighbours by Hannah Mary McKinnon. I am still blown away by the ending.

The book that has the most vivid setting was Anne of Green Gables. I felt like I was in Prince Edward Island with Anne throughout the whole novel.

The hidden gem of the year is The Home For Unwanted Girls. I don’t hear a lot of people talk about this book and it is a story that needs to be shared.

The book that crushed my soul was The Next Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom. This book stomped on my soul so often. 

29. Most Unique Book You Read In 2018?

The most unique books that I read in 2018 would have to be the Themis Files Trilogy. These book are all told mostly in interview format. 

30. Book That Made You The Most Mad (doesn’t necessarily mean you didn’t like it)?

The books that mad me the most mad was The Wife and Behind Closed Doors. They both made me mad because they both tackle cheating husbands and in both books the main woman character gets only mad at the other woman. They never get mad at the male.

My favourite BookTube channels that I discovered in 2018 is Getting Hygge With It and Books and Smiles. They are both lovely ladies. Highly recommend both. 

2. Favorite post you wrote in 2018?

My favourite post that I wrote this year is all of the posts I made for Bookmas. I have always wanted to participate in Bookmas and this is the first year that I did. 

3. Favorite bookish related photo you took in 2018:?

I don’t have a favourite. 

4. Best bookish event that you participated in (author signings, festivals, virtual events,  etc.)?

I didn’t participate in any. 

5. Best moment of bookish/blogging life in 2018?

The best moment of my bookish/blogging life in 2018 would have to be starting my bookish blog. I have always wanted a bookish blog and I decided that this year would be the year and I am so happy that I did. 

6. Most challenging thing about blogging or your reading life this year?

The most challenging thing about reading life I found this year was finding time to read. I started my first full time job this year and it was challenging juggling it all. 

7. Most Popular Post This Year On Your Blog (whether it be by comments or views)?

My most popular post this year on my blog was my September Book Haul. 

8. Post You Wished Got A Little More Love?

The posts that I wished got a little more love are my Bookmas posts. 

9. Best bookish discover (book related sites, book stores, etc.)?

The best bookish discovery of the year is NerdyPost. I got my first NerdyPost subscription box this year and I quickly fell in love with the subscription. 

10.  Did you complete any reading challenges or goals that you had set for yourself at the beginning of this year?

I did complete a reading challenge this year. I wanted to read at least 100 books and I have read 144 books.

The one book that I didn’t get to in 2018 but will be my number one priority in 2019 is Leviathon Wakes by James S.A. Corey.

One of my favourite stand alone book is A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness. It is so well written, the plot is amazing and it just rips your heart out and stomps on it. I still think about this book till this day.

My favourite dance between two characters would have to be the dance scene in the Perks of Being a Wallflower between Charlie and Sam. I like it because it is the first time that Charlie get out of his shell.

My favourite book-to-movie adaptation is Stand By Me. This movie was based off of a Stephen King short story called the Body. The movie did such a good job.

Finally Fall Book Tag

A book with a vivid setting is Anne of Green Gables. I felt like I was at Prince Edward Island with Anne. It was glorious. 

2. Nature is beautiful… but also dying: name a book that is beautifully written, but also deals with a heavy topic like loss or grief.

A book that is beautifully written, but also deals with a heavy topic is A Monster Calls. This book is beautiful inside and out. This boo deals with dying and loss. 

3. Fall is back to school season: share a non-fiction book that taught you something new.

A non fiction book that taught me something new is Cash by Johnny Cash. This is Johnny Cash’s autobiography and it taught me so many things about him that I never would have imagined.  

4. In order to keep warm, it’s good to spend some time with the people we love: name a fictional family/household/friend-group that you’d like to be a part of.

A fictional family that that I would love to be apart of is the March family from Little Women. This family is everything. I love how close they are, their love for each other and so much more.

A book where somebody is telling a story if The Boston Girl. This is about a elderly women who is telling her life story to her Granddaughter.

A dark and creepy book is Then She was Gone. This book gave me goosebumps. Ill leave it at that.

A short, heartwarming read that could warm up somebody’s cold and rainy day is Matilda. I love Matilda. This books puts a smile on my face. The character of Matilda is so funny and spunky. 

9. Fall (luckily, it’s my favourite season) returns every year: name an old favourite that you’d like to return to soon.

An old favourite that I’d like to return to soon is I am the Messenger. I remember falling in love with this book years ago. It’s the kind of book that warms your heart and makes you have confidence in humanity again.

A book that I had to read that ended up being a drag is Lord of the Flies. I had to read this book in Grade 10 English and I did not like the book. Especially the ending.

A book that I was proud of finishing is The End by Lemony Snicket. This is the thirteenth and final book to the Series of Unfortunate Events. I just remember being so proud of myself finishing a thirteen book long series.

A mushy sweet book that I couldn’t help but devour is To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Hann. This book is so cute and quirky.

A book that had me hooked by the first chapter is the Neighbors by Hannah Mary McKinnon. This book was so gripping and fast paced. 

5. Skipping rocks: a book or series you DNF’d

A book I DNF’d is Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin. I just you’d not get passed the main character sleeping with her best friend’s boyfriend.

A book so good that I am always found singing it’s praises is I am the Messenger. I read this book for pleasure in high school and I still to this day think about this book. It is so impactful.

A book that made me think deeply about an aspect in the world is Here by Richard McGuire. This is a graphic novel all about what has happened throughout history in one spot in the world. It goes forward and backward in time and it is fascinating. 

8. The tear down: a book that’s ending was bitter sweet.

A book that’s ending was bittersweet was the Outsider’s. The story of these band of brothers was so sweet, but the ending was so sad. I still think about this ending.

1. False Start–What’s a book you had to start more than once?

A book that I had to start more then once is the Serpent King. The first time I started this book I ended up putting it down because I wasn’t in the mood for a contemporary. The second time I read I read it in one sitting and it absolutely blew me away. This is such an awesome books. 

2. MVP–What are your Most Valued Pages, aka, which books do you value the most?

The books that I value the most are the puffin in bloom collection that I have. I think these are the most beautiful book covers and I love them so much. 

3. Offensive Lineman–Name a really big book or series?

A really big series is the Series of Unfortunate Events. This series has 13 books. I love this series. 

4. Rookie–Name a debut novel you want to read or that you loved.

A debut novel that I loved was the Kiss Quoetient by Helen Hoang. This boom was so cute and I really loved the Asperger’s representation.  

5. Peyton Manning–Name an author who has written two different books or series you love?

A author that has written two different books that I love is Patrick Ness. One of my all time favourite books is A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness and I also loved this Knife of Never Letting Go trilogy.

A book that is very atmospheric is Anne of Green Gables. I love how vivid the author’s descriptions are of Prince Edward Island. I felt like I was there.

A book with a great ending is The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. The ending was amazing. It blew me away.

A series that has intense fans is the Harry Potter series. This series is amazing, magical and a modern classic. I believe everyone deep down is a Harry Potter fan.

A author who is really charitable is Judy Blume. She is the founder and trustee of the KIDS Fund. It is a charitable and educational foundation which promotes communication between kids and parents. 

10. Patriots–Name a book or series you’re SO TIRED of hearing about.

A book series that I am tired of hearing about is the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas. Everyone seems to love this series I unfortunately was not one of them. 

11. Brett Favre–What’s a book or series you thought was over but then more books were written?

A book series that I thought was over but then more books were written is the Shatter Me series. I and everyone else were very surprised when the author decided to continue with the series. I am very curious about how the author is going to further the story. 

12. Cowboys–Name a book or series that people either love or hate.

A book that people either love or hate is Thirteen Reasons Why. I am on the side of loving it. I felt so impacted by this book when I read it in grade 8 all those years ago. I can understand why people don’t necessarily like this book. It does deal with a emotional topic. 

13. Trick Plays–Name a book or series with a plot twist.

A book with a plot twist is the Neighbours. I did not see the plot twist coming. I was amazed.

A book with a flashy cover is Warcross. It is just so bright and shiny. I love it.
